Fall & Winter 2007-2008 Jewelry Color Trends

When the temperatures begin to cool down, the world of jewelry will continue to heat up. We all expect to see warm tones in jewelry designs as the year nears its conclusion, but what may surprise many jewelry lovers is that some of the old favorite jewel tones will be a must-have for the upcoming fall and winter season.

If you ask many people, they will tell you that their favorite color is blue. The fall & winter 2007-2008 color trends suggest that this popular shade will remain in style, which means blue topaz, aquamarine and blue cubic zirconia will be a staple for every jewelry wardrobe. Among the other favorites are shades of purple and pink, which means amethyst and pink topaz or their cubic zirconia substitutes will be hot picks for fall and winter.

As we all know, you can't go wrong with classic black. It's always a good match for nearly every wardrobe favorite and it never goes out of style, but the upcoming season will see this classic color making a big splash in the world of jewelry. Because black will be a popular color trend for fall & winter 2007-2008 jewelry designs, both black onyx and simulated black diamonds will be the perfect accessories.

When you think of yellow, you probably think of the sun and the warm summer months that typically go along with it. But, guess what. Even though the sun may not be at its strongest during the fall and winter months, the upcoming season is going to be a hot one for jewelry lovers. Believe it or not, one of the fall & winter 2007-2008 popular jewelry colors is yellow. This means that your simulated canary diamond jewelry will look perfect when paired with your cold weather wardrobe. In addition, citrine, yellow topaz or their cubic zirconia substitutes will bring plenty of sunshine into your life as your remain on top of the seasonal jewelry trends.

On a final note to the upcoming fall & winter 2007-2008 jewelry color trends, remember that some of the traditional favorites will be returning. Among them, shades of pumpkin, gray and chocolate brown will once again be a wise choice for fashion conscious consumers. What does this mean for jewelry lovers? Quite simply, it means that smoky quartz, simulated chocolate and/or champagne diamonds will be in style and on trend.

Whether you are looking for genuine gemstones or enjoy the affordability of cubic zirconia, remember that a classic design never truly goes out of style. While color trends may suggest that some colors are hotter than others, it doesn't mean that you should tuck away your old favorites. Instead, wear them proudly with some of the newest additions to your jewelry wardrobe.

Step Away From Your Computer and Discover Today's Hottest Trends

I know, I know. Everyone uses Google Trends to see what's hot and what's not. And while I use this dandy online tool myself, my most frequent gauge of buzz isn't Google . . . in fact it's not even on the computer.

My secret "pulse taker" is out my front door and down the hill about three miles . . . to my local Barnes and Noble and Borders.

The Offline Version of Google Trends

I stumbled onto this trend-spotting method years ago, before the Internet really hit its stride. At one time, during the early days of AOL, I kept an eye on the Internet section of the bookstore and saw it increase in several months from six books to three shelves dedicated to the Internet.

Bingo! I knew interest was trending online . . . and at a fast pace.

The trend was clear - and growing - so at that time, I submitted a book proposal to the "Dummy" books publisher on how to do genealogy online, and got a rejection letter telling me that there wasn't enough interest in online stuff to do the book. Ha!

Over the years, I've witnessed the ups and downs in popularity of Native American books (credit the Dances With Wolves movie), digital photography, Internet business, online marketing, DIY, gourmet cooking (think: Top Chef), computer magazines, and fantasy books (Lord of the Rings).

Get Into the Trends Routine

My routine is a once-weekly bookstore trip, hitting the sections of the store I'm most interested in. Trust me, it only takes a month or two to recognize a growing trend or a downward spiral. Although that trend may last only three to six months, you'll be the one to recognize the potential and profit from it.

What's my 2009 hot trends predictor, based on my secret bookstore methodology? Latch onto microblogging, FriendFeed, relationship marketing, and time management. (check back with me in 2010 and let's see how I did!)

Fall Fashion Trends - 7 Hot Styles That Won't Break the Bank

This season, it's easy to look fashion-forward without spending a lot of money. Here are 7 tips to help you look great this fall without breaking the bank.

1. Wardrobe staples. If you are watching your pennies, you aren't the only one. The trends on the runway for this autumn seem to be reflecting everyone's need to scale back on spending. The collections of many designers are encompassing a back-to-basics theme with clean, simple lines and good wardrobe pieces.

2. Color. Black is still a very fashionable color, especially when paired with splashes of bright colors. Black, grey and white are dominating the runway, so be prepared to see that reflected in the palette in the department stores. You'll also be seeing some deep purples as well as a bit of a flashback to the 1980s, with some bright color trends.

3. Leather and suede. One of the biggest trends for fall is leather and suede, particularly in handbags and jackets. While leather and suede are always in style, this year they are getting some fun updates with quilting, metallic finishes and animal prints.

4. Leggings are making a comeback. Expect to see leggings with long tunics and sweaters. Pair them with ankle boots and chunky jewelry for a fashion-forward look.

5. Metallics are hot, whether it's a full-fledged lame fabric or just a shimmery sheen to stretchy fabrics. You'll see more metallics in the department store in the form of accessories and full outfits. Update your look by adding a few pieces of flashy metallic jewelry or investing in separates with a subtle shine.

6. Outrageous accessories. It's easy to dress up your simple outfits with bold accessories. Large necklaces, big bracelets, hats and unique boots will all be part of fall trends. Even if clothing designs seem a little subdued, accessories definitely are not.

7. Denim is always popular and this fall shows two very different approaches. First, dark denim with wide legs is going to be a very big trend heading into the colder months. Darker denim fabrics flatter nearly everyone and has the added benefit of making your bottom look smaller. On the other end of the spectrum, ripped denim from the 1980s is making a comeback, so don't throw out those torn jeans just yet!

The best thing about the hot trends this season is this: a few simple, new pieces will coordinate well with the basics that are already hanging in your closet. So you can look modern and stylish without breaking the bank.

Hot Winter Colour Trends

Charcoals and blacks are Winters staple colours in the fashion world. This year they are adding bursts of colour to beat the cold and for a more exciting and daring look.

Classic dark charcoal is a terrific colour for all sorts of fashion pieces, including career suits, trousers, skirts, shoes, and accessories like scarves and handbags. To go along with these charcoal pieces, though, watch for splashes of colour like forest green, deep plum, and rich burgundy. Bright cherry red or sunshine yellow accessories work wonders with charcoal; it's something you're going to see in most fashion collections and is a terrific way to create a look that's interesting, striking, and eye catching.

The earth tones of fall - Deep reds and golden yellows are ideal - give way in winter to deeper and richer shades. Knee high boots, smart trousers or a skirt are perfectly partnered with a dark burgandy coat. Why? Because it brings a hint of colour to your outfit without being overwhelming or overbearing.

Of course, the classic winter white is being shown all over this season, and for good reason. Winter white with creamy tones is a great colour for every occasion for a fresh and clean cut look. From a day at the office to an evening on the dance floor, you'll definitely stand out when you choose a wardrobe piece in this colour. Pair winter white with a burst of colour like greens or blues for a more dramatic effect.

Just because it's winter, though, don't shy away from adding a hint of bright colours to your traditional wardrobe pieces. Standard earthy tones are being shown by designers this year however they are livening it up with daring handbags, exotic earrings and chandelier necklaces. Why not try a leopard-print clutch purse to go with your classic black dress suit or sheath style dress?

As always, the key to looking great this winter is to find the colours and tones that work best for you and then use them to spice up your wardrobe in key places. Don't be afraid to try something a little bit different because it's bound to make your wardrobe more interesting and exciting!

Color and Decorating Trends For Fall & Winter 2008

Color trends for Fall and Winter are in one word: BOLD!

The color palettes for paint companies will continue to be in the bold family lines of warm tones, with hints of homage to the past for those young enough to recall the pea-greens and mustard golds of the 50's and 60's. With colors like periwinkle, navy, and chartreuse back on the color spectrum of acceptability, we should see some interesting combinations in homes. Throw in some rusty reds, fuchsia, lime green, plum and navy, and you have the "new" color palette being touted by groups such as ColorMix 08 found at Sherwin Williams. Not all palettes are bold, you can also enjoy a wonderful soothing palette of colors that have a peachy hint of a base color to warm them up.

The difference with houses today with painted walls are the furniture pieces that sit in the rooms that we find are mostly in the dark tones with classic clean lines. Framed art is also a way to create a new look and the wood frames have replaced the faux gilded frames from the past with a fresh and clean look that sits well on any wall color.

For guidance on what color to paint walls, take inspiration from your art. If you have a fabulous key piece that you really like, select a color from the piece of art, and use that as the background color or inspiration accent color for your room. If you are not confident putting bold colors on walls, you don't have to paint the wall that color, but how about placing some lovely accent pillows in the accent tone on your sofa or chair? Or add an urn or other decorative object in that color. Add a thick faux mink throw draped over the arm of a sofa or chair, and your look says, "Come and sit - enjoy!"

You can also take inspiration from nature or a journey you have taken to another country where the culture of color inspires you! Get inspired by the costumes, the food palette, and buildings.

When looking at nature, notice how blues and greens blend together, and a pop of color such as yellow, red, purple, or pink give a special touch and draw the eye, much like a blossom of a flowering shrub captures your attention.

If you are looking to achieve a fresh look for your "tired" interior, consider the services of a Home Staging professional that can apply their "Staging to Live" techniques in your home. Unlike designers or decorators that will try to sell you on expensive new furnishings (as they typically make their profit on the margin of wholesale to retail cost), an ASP Stager will use what you have, apply a fresh set of skilled eyes to your room, and refresh your interior with their creativity.

Here are some tips from pros on the Color Trends for 2008-2009:

o Purple - in fashion and home, purple is the front runner of color. It has come back to the forefront as the color du jour - and we will see it in both homes and in fashion.

o Yellow - Yellow is the new orange! Orange will still remain with a presence, but not quite as hot as yellow. This is good news for both homes and fashion where not everyone was a fan or orange. Yellow can be bright or soft - and used as an accent for a pop of color in a room - and it really adds pizzazz. Of course, yellow is on the opposite side of the color spectrum of purple - so combine these two colors for some really great results.

o Blues - varying shades from soft spa blues to robin's egg blues to deep sea blues. Many nature inspired blues. Blue is soothing and relaxing - so use this in rooms where you want to linger or rest. Again, used as a key accent color blue is a very effective balance color.

o Greens - with all of the buzz about the environment, natural greens are making their way into the home, and green also has many hues from forest green with a black undertone to a lime green with a yellow undertone. Green is soothing and works great with blue and even purple as a complementary color.

o Browns -look great with other hot colors, especially the softer colors where black would be too harsh. Brown can be used with furniture - with warm woods, darker brown woods helping anchor a space, or even with accent items like pillows, faux mink throws, and surface decor.

TIP: Don't get carried away and use all these colors on your walls - it would be too much for most homeowners. One pop color on a wall works, but having a Disneyland look in a house chops up the flow and makes each room feel smaller. Putting very dark colors on walls absorbs the light, and brings the walls together, reducing the feel of space in the room.

Instead, take inspiration from some of the darker or bolder colors and bring in decor and accent pieces that can highlight a room. Perhaps it's a piece of art you find that has some of these colors, and then add some new accent pillows or an area rug that has the same tones, and your room will look renewed!

We are also seeing the return of patterns in fabrics - stripes, floral and metallics are back in style. Again, instead of making a full commitment to a fabric with a large sofa upholstered in one of these new trends, simply pick up some accent pillows or throw with some fun patterns or colors, and you will be right up with the trends. Look for metals that are not shiny as that look is out - no brass - but you can incorporate brushed nickel finishes and an aged look with some metels with a natural or faux patina.

Kitchen and Flooring trends remain fairly neutral with some great new materials on the market that look like more expensive counterparts, but are much more cost effective. Have fun with kitchens - adding decor for color works. Be careful not to overdo paint in the kitchen - again less is more even for living - and adding an accent wall or painting your backsplash for a dose of color works. Painting the whole kitchen red, is too much.

Fall and Winter are great times to decorate or re-decorate our homes with new furniture or fixtures, but when the budget does not allow for that, you can also just transition for the seasons, bringing in decor and items in tune with the season - with the idea that we will transition to spring next year. This works because as the weather turns colder outside, we seek warmth as we layer our clothing. We can also layer our furnishings inside and layer our decor. Warm up our interiors with color and fabric layers. Bring in the warm tones with accent decor, get out your candles and add ambient light in rooms that help warm up the space. Enjoy snuggling with a new, soft throw and smell the crisp air outside.

Embrace Fall and Winter with the colors found in nature - and have fun in moderation with the bolder looks we see continuing in to 2009.

Shoe Trends - What's Hot This Winter in Shoes and Handbags

If you want a big bang for your fashion buck, splurge on some new accessories this season. You can get a fresh new look with many of your old wardrobe pieces, just by adding some trendy new shoes or a hot new handbag. Here's a quick guide to what's in style for Winter 2009 and 2010.

Shoe Trends for Winter 2009/2010

In previous years, the runways were full of shoes with odd shapes, strange colors and huge design elements. In a complete 180, this season, the shoes are more understated and sleek. If you want to stay on trend with your shoes, make sure that they are timeless designs - classic pumps, plain boots or contemporary loafers. Think updated styles of what women used to wear in the 1940s and 1950s.

Everything goes when it comes to toe shapes. We're seeing anything from very pointy to square toe to rounded toe. Boots are hot, too. This season, the super hot trends for boots are ankle-boots and over-the-knee boots.

The colors you'll find this season are black, near-black, navy blue, dark green and dark violet. Cognac (a burgundy brown) and asphalt (a dark grey) are the on-trend colors for this season. In addition, you'll find lots of light neutral colors and leather tones to offset the darkness.

Handbag Trends for Winter 2009/2010

In contrast to the understated and dark shoe trends of this winter, handbags are bold and beautiful. The top designers have all been showcasing handbags that have sparkle, pizzazz and lots of embellishments.

Nearly every size of handbag is available this season. Clutches, small bags, hobo bags and totes are all available in these flashy styles.

Some of the most interesting features this season come from a rock influence. Chains and studs are being used in new and exciting ways. Chains are used in chained straps and there are studs and rivets being used on pockets and as extra details on purses.

Another big trend, if you're not into the whole metal thing, is blended fabrics and colors. You can find purses that use contrasts of suede and leather, dark and light colors and different patterns. These designs go great with an understated outfit that has solid colors.

Size wise, the trend toward big is still going strong in handbags. Although clutches and smaller bags can still be found, in order to stay on trend you should get a large tote. This is good news for those of you who like to carry a lot of things with them.

You really can keep your wardrobe fresh this season by investing in just a few new accessories. You'll stay fashionable without breaking the bank.

Hot Kitchen Design Trends You Should Know About

Most of our homes in New York City are small which also usually results in having other rooms that are small.

If you currently own your own apartment in NYC then you have probably entertained the idea of increasing or enhancing the space of one or more of your rooms.

We all know that remodeling a space requires lots of planning and a certain amount of cash to achieve a good result that we can happily live in. One of the most frequently used rooms in a home is the kitchen and when you have a small space it can sometimes be really hard to get motivated to utilize it at full capacity.

Some of the most common complaints for kitchens are things like not having enough bench space, not having enough storage space, bad lighting and not enough air circulation.

Hot trends within a tight budget are possible when contemplating kitchen design in New York! Your kitchen can have the latest design trends and looks that will ensure that your celebrity home chefs and guests can appreciate the hard work of your cooking without the hard work of hanging out in a dysfunctional kitchen.

Some looks that are hot right now and won't put a massive dent in your budget are things like changing the shapes of your bench tops. The current trend is to reconsider the lines in the kitchen to include more curves and flowing forms rather than the more conservative formation of straight lines. The different shape of a bench top can make the space become more functional and perhaps allow more space for appliances or food preparation. The flexibility of the bench top shape will mean that unexplored places within the kitchen can be utilized with no space being left untouched! With the creation of extra spaces there is the opportunity to build in extra shelving on the backs of the cabinetry providing extra space for books and accessories.

Good lighting in a kitchen is really important. It creates a space that is completely functional and enhances the size of the room. The current trends for lighting correspond with the existing concern over the current consumption of energy through the use of electricity in the home. More and more people want to switch the lights off and open up the windows to allow the natural light in to the room. In large apartment buildings it is usual to either find a tiny window in the corner of the room which allows minimal light in the middle of the day, or just no window at all. So what are the alternatives these days? If you live in the penthouse of the apartment block you could insert a sky light, however this is probably not the normal situation for most people. Opting for energy saving light bulbs is probably the best way to go. Whatever your taste is in lighting fittings, think about the bulb you place inside. These days you can buy fluorescent bulbs, dimmers, mini-halogen and globes that are long lasting and kind to the environment - definitely a good trend!

The color of a room, especially when considering kitchen design in NY, is always a much spoken about topic. Trends in kitchen color don't really change all that much from year to year, although there are a few key components to enhancing the space. The experts suggest figuring out what mood you are trying to create and then go from there! The typical colors that depict a warm environment are reds, pinks, orange and browns. If you have a small kitchen which is hot due to no windows, being compact in size and an oven that does not function well, it is probably best to avoid these kinds of colors. Maybe instead you could choose the cooler colors like white, blue or lime and the bonus with using these colors is that they will coordinate really well with stainless steel type appliances. If you are remodeling because you are getting ready for a sale, then many people decide to stick with very neutral colors that will create the illusion of space like white or beige. This also gives the buyer the opportunity to dream about the colors they may like to add to the space themselves.

Maybe you are one of those people who have a lot of previous experience with home remodeling projects but if you don't trust your own judgment when it comes to redesigning a space then perhaps you could decide to let someone else make the call. Hiring a professional New York General Contractor is simple as there are many to choose from who will make your life very simple. Hot Engagement Ring Trends For 2010

Engagement rings carry your relationship into the future as a symbol of your love and the wedding of two hearts. The future bride and groom and pledge themselves to each other and their intent to marry and bind their lives together with a pair of diamond encrusted bands.

Diamond engagement rings are probably the most significant rings you will end up wearing in your life. You pour all the hopes and dreams of you and your loved one into these symbolic representations and the style and design has much to say about how you view your relationship. You have various bands, settings and diamond cuts and placements to consider, your choice will carry you into the future.

Let's take a look at the hot engagement ring trends for 2010...

Diamond Eternity Rings Grow In Popularity
An eternity ring is characterized by it's lack of a single dominant diamond that is featured, but rather has multiple gems set within the band. A much more subtle choice for an engagement rings, the rising popularity has much to do with sky rocketing costs for precious metals. Gold, white gold, and platinum have undergone a spike in prices, gold breaking $1100 an ounce recently. With the rising costs of gold raising the costs of your typical diamond ring, people are opting to purchase symbol over diamond quality.

Custom Ring Designs
Another emerging wedding ring trend for 2010 is custom designed rings. Unique wedding rings are becoming increasingly popular. People are returning to the symbolic roots in their wedding ring purchases, and the popularity of buying unique diamond engagement rings is showing a strong growth. Purchasing a unique ring set declares your love, your relationship and your future as unique and valuable. The only surprise in this trend is that it has taken so long to build steam outside of the expensive ring community. Now, many local jewelers are offering custom ring cuts and designs that can meet the growing demand.

Alternative Metals
Traditionally gold and platinum direct the lion share of engagement ring purchases. With the expected continued rise of precious metals prices the time is ripe for alternative metals for creating your wedding bands and settings. There are many lightweight and strong metals that are not typically associated with engagement rings that will become increasingly more common. Titanium rings are a good alternative for buyers looking for a more economical choice. Looking like platinum, still stylish, and offering a cheaper price tag, these alternative metal rings will grow in popularity in 2010.

New Fabric Trends

In keeping up with the changing times, the fashion world is constantly changing. These changes have resulted in a variety of styles that were unheard of or unknown before. Current fashion trends range from minimalist to playfulness which explains the emergence of new fabrics that embody futuristic modernity.

Among the many new fabrics that you'll see is lace which is the favorite of many designers. These include Giorgio Armani, Alexander McQueen, Derek Lam, Proenza Schouler, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy and Prada.

Lace is viewed by designers as contradictory - it's something that covers you yet playfully reveals what's inside you. This old fabric has been with us for years but only recently has it conquered the fashion industry with its peek-a-boo prudishness and romantic flair.

It's easy to understand why. Lace has a rich heritage and can be found anywhere from your grandmother's tablecloth to curtains. When used for clothing, lace, with its intricate designs, instantly creates a stunning look.

Another hot new fabric trend is sheer fabric. The see-through look might be considered indecent by some but it is currently making waves in the fashion world. The key to wearing clothing made of sheer fabric is to use undergarments or layers that help conceal. Remember, this type of style works best in evening wear. If you would like to wear it in daytime, a conservative approach is recommended. One suggestion for a daytime look is to pair a sheer blouse under a blazer or jacket. You'll look sophisticated without revealing too much.

3 Hot Internet Marketing Trends for 2008 and Beyond

Like many internet marketers, I read many predictions at the beginning of the year regarding what to expect for 2008 and what may be the hot trends in the internet marketing industry.

You have probably noticed, as I have, that the internet appears to be changing. Let's look at these changes and how they point to 3 trends that may offer excellent opportunities for online marketers in the months ahead.

First of all, the internet market is still relatively new. Recent statistics show that only 18% of the world's population has internet access. However, this is rapidly growing, especially in Asia.

As with all new markets, especially those that involve technology, the first ones to enter are the innovators and early adopters: so-called "internet geeks" and the entrepreneurs.

Then the market gradually enters the mainstream, where the vast majority of the population, and opportunities, exist. There is evidence to suggest that this is going on right now on the internet.

Many regular presenters at internet marketing seminars have commented on how the attendance at these events started to change in 2007. The usual group of "geeks" and "gurus" began to be replaced by people totally new to the concept of internet marketing.

So new that Michael Fortin, one of the top copywriters on the web, remarked that after speaking on stage he was very surprised to be asked questions such as, "How do you create a text file?", or, "What is an autoresponder?"

More and more people are starting an online business for the first time, people who have limited internet marketing skills.

The veterans of the industry, the top marketers, have either moved on, retired, or are well aware of the trend towards the "newbie" market and are actively pursuing it.

Here's the interesting part: the way these "gurus" are approaching the "newbie" market is increasing offline. Yes, you read that right. Offline advertising is now becoming very effective for marketing online opportunities.

As a matter of fact, the initial results from an offline marketing campaign being conducted by the markers of the system I use for my network marketing opportunity has shown impressive results.

In addition to this offline trend, as mentioned above, people in Asia are beginning to come online in huge numbers. This is going to be a vast and lucrative market.

In summary, here are the 3 hot internet marketing trends to look for in 2008:

1. The market in Asia.

2. The opportunities in offline marketing.

3. The many new people looking to start an online business.

Internet marketers that choose to offer internet marketing strategies and solutions to these markets may be rewarded generously.

6 Hot Home Staging Trends

Home staging is just as hot today as it was last year. In this tumultuous real estate market every small touch matters. Home stagers are learning that a few areas really bring the biggest bang for the buck for homeowners. Some of the home staging trends right now include:

Kitchens. Just a few years ago, the kitchen was considered to be just part of a closet, is now spruced up to have space for a small refrigerator, a one drawer dishwasher, crockery sets made of bone china, glass dishes, a sink, a counter and a fancy hi-end coffee maker are the most essential pre-requisites of a modern kitchen.

Media Rooms. A LCD projection TV with a large screen and a plush sofa is all you require to make your own media room. The media room is no longer a luxury restricted to the most affluent pop stars, movie stars and the super-rich but a basic necessity in nowadays' houses.

Mud rooms with cubbies. I have always envied my friends who had mudrooms in their homes. All newly built homes do have mudrooms by the garage side or by the backdoor. Apart from the mudrooms, a lot of stand-alone pottery barns also look quite beautiful.

Laundry Rooms. There are more and more people who prefer a laundry room in the upstairs which is completely self-sufficient. People want to have a laundry room with enough space to wash, dry, fold, iron and in some cases even to sew clothes.

Complete closets. Closets are getting bigger - big enough to accommodate a divan or chaise, exercise equipment, books, etc are also getting the thumbs up from new home owners. There are some who even prefer to have a ballet bar or a wall of mirrors in their closet!

See through walls. See through gas hearths, aquariums etc are beginning to double-up as trendy and unconventional room dividers. Though it is quite prevalent in the west of USA it is not so prevalent in the north-east.

Hot Home Remodeling Trends - Smart Windows

Smart glass - also known less glamorously as switchable glass - is a new breed of windowpane that literally dims and brightens at your command. When you want the sunlight to come flooding in through the windows flick a switch and the built in tint turns off. Night falling? Switch the tint back on and make it as dark as you like. You can even make your smart windows appear opaque for extra daytime privacy.

There are a number of different kinds of smart glass hitting the market and it is helpful to talk to a professional window installer to figure out which would be right for your home. Some smart glass contains liquid crystal (yes the same stuff as in your TV) while some other models are powered by a small electric current. On the lower end of the market there is glass available that acts just like those sunglasses that transition according to how bright the light hitting them is.

If the windows you have are structurally in good shape, a good window installer will be able to simply replace your current window panes with new smart glass ones with very little mess or fuss.

As they are still very much an emerging technology smart windows do cost more than their more traditional counterparts. If you like the idea why not go one window at a time if your budget is tight? Over time, like all technology, the prices will drop and then you can have all the windows in your home made a little smarter!

Hot Internet Marketing Trends in Product Creation

The product creation internet marketing trends are no longer skewed towards e-book. Nowadays, you find products in all sorts of formats. Besides PDF files, we have interactive videos, powerpoint presentations, podcasts, audio files, live internet seminars, teleseminars and so forth. A new form of products, known as viral products are products which encourage consumers to spread the good news about it or give it away to their friends for free.

Another hot product creation trend is PLR or private label rights. This type of product allows users to brand themselves as the author of the products and sell them again and keep 100% of the profits. A similar product is also products with resell rights, meaning the user can resell the product and keep 100% of the profits, but cannot change the contents of the products. These PLRs and resell right products come in various formats nowadays - eBooks, videos, audios etc.

Also, coming back into the internet marketing scene are physical products such as DVDs, CDs or hard copy books. This usually gives products a higher perceived value because users are getting something real instead of just downloading off a site. Internet marketing gurus such as Frank Kern even offer real live seminars and workshops for users who buy his latest products.

Product creators are also using more and more unique ways to sell their products. For example, they might charge a low price on their front end, and then charge a premium price for a one-time-offer (OTO) or backend after the user has made a purchase. Some even offer bonus gifts and incentives to entice customers to buy their products. Many internet marketers offer free trials or 1 dollar trials, and the user only has to pay the remainder after a week if he is satisfied. One of the hottest trends right now is also exclusive membership rights. Memberships sites are a good way to retain customer loyalty and gives marketers more opportunities to sell their products.

Hot Autumn Colour Trends For 2009

It's a timeless fashion rule of thumb - autumn is all about the earth tone colours. Mahogany brown, burnt red, harvest orange, dark golden yellow, rustic forest green, and the like, all fall into this trustworthy category of autumn fashion must-haves. This year, though, a couple of other distinctly interesting colours are being shown across all types of clothing, making them the best colours for this autumn season.

Let's start with teal. This rich and elegant colour can fall across a wide spectrum of hues and shades, from those with more blue in them to those with more green in them and even some with darker overtones of purplish charcoal. This means today's fashion pieces put forth in teal are perfect for adding a just-right splash of colour without being too flashy or out of place for the season.

Why not brighten up your look with a dark teal jacket, or try teaming up a teal dress with a darker blazer or cardigan for a professional look which is still elegant and sexy. If too much teal is not really your thing, use the colour to accent your outfit. Try a teal scarf, hat or gloves. Even a teal purse, necklace, bracelet, or earrings can be just enough to bring this exciting fall colour into your wardrobe this year.

The other must have splash of colour this Autumn is the lovely, deep grape purple. This colour also shows up across a wide spectrum of hues and shades, from those that are dark yet distinctly purple to those with charcoal-influenced tones. It's the perfect colour to add a hint of excitement to your Autumn wardrobe if you are not too comfortable straying away from the traditional rustic colours.

The charcoal-type purples are especially elegant and professional looking, which is why they are being shown in everything from evening dresses to professional suits to high-end overcoats and wardrobe staples. The lovely thing about these shades of purple is they are easy to pair with other colours ranging full across the browns, forest greens, and burnt reds. Think about adding in this season's dark purple to your overall look by using earrings, necklaces, scarves, hose, shoes, or a really great purse to complete the outfit.

Enjoy this autumn season by bringing out the traditional fall colours, but if you really want to add some spice and elegance to your wardrobe then also bring out some key fashion pieces in this year's hottest new colours - rich shades of teal and dark, elegant purple.

4 Hot Adult Costume Trends For Halloween 2010

Each year, new trends emerge for the popular costumes that will be seen at Halloween parties across the United States. Here are four costume trends that I think we will see a lot of this year:

1. Immigration Costumes - Whether you call it illegal immigration or undocumented immigration, expect to see plenty of jokesters dressed in costumes dealing with the border issues. Whenever you have a political hot topic, costumes are sure to follow. Not all costumes are in good taste, and these certainly will push people's buttons, but I have already seen both undocumented worker costumes as well as border guard costumes popping up on line.

2. Celebrity Scandals - Celebrities are always a popular themes for costumes, but celebrity scandals offer party goers topical and buzzworthy costume ideas. This year expect to see more than a few ladies dressed as famous young jailhouse and rehab denizens. For the guys, there should be no lack of high profile scandalous golfers or drunken ranting actor costumes.

3. Comic Books and Video Games - Each year comic books and video games become more mainstream. And with each year, comic book conventions such as Comic-Con grown more popular and expose more people to comic book costumes. There is a lot of buzz building up around upcoming films based on comic books such as the Green Lantern, Thor and the Avengers. This year will find plenty of guys that look like classic superheroes. Video games like Red Dead Redemption also provide a wealth of costume ideas.

4. Sexy Costumes - There is nothing new about ladies choosing sexy Halloween Costumes. In fact that seems to be the most common trend for adult women attending adult parties. I included this as a hot adult costume trend because this year will see more ready-made sexy costumes than ever before. Each year the assortment of styles and sizes available grows exponentially. Several new sexy lines have been released this year, including a new line based on the recent Alice in Wonderland film. And the current female pop sensation who constantly pushes the envelope of creative outfits offers the do-it-yourself costume creator with a plethora of ideas for sexy woman costumes.

Hot New Hair Trends For 2008!

Today's hairstyles are vibrant and exciting! Thinking back on how limited we've been in past decades (with one style representing what was en vogue), it's evident that we've expanded our hair-fashion horizons.

Haircolor has emerged as an artform and new cutting techniques and tools have exploded the creativity of stylists. We now draw from all of the past decades for inspiration and then bring it up a notch with modern methods.

With so many incarnations of hair history to select from, we cycle through them like children playing dress-up with the contents of an old trunk in the attic.

The result? New hair trends.

Let's look at a bit of what we'll be seeing in 2008...

Hair Styles/Styling

Vintage 20's and 40's inspired styling is hot for 2008. Pared down glamor. Sophisticated, elegant waves... A polished look with a low key "regal" quality.

Strong, blunt fringes or soft sweeping bangs (heavier than in the past) make a modern statement this year. And blunt fringes of shorter lengths play into the vintage feel that is popular now. If your hairstyle needs a boost, but you're not sure which direction to take it, try adding a fringe (either long or short). This one simple change can dramatically alter the feel of a hair cut.

Texture is all over the map. Stick-straight locks with the addition of a lash-skimming, blunt fringe transforms straight hair into a high-fashion showpiece.

Peaks and swirls add interest to cropped hairstyles. The faux-hawk is a good example of "peaks." To freshen up the look, bring the peak over to the side more, in keeping with the "at the side" trend for 2008.

A swirling motion creates incredible texture, while making a strong individual statement. The swirls can also showcase haircolor in a way that no other styling technique can.

Curly Hairstyles

Curls are still in the limelight and the looks can range from smooth, deep dips and curves, to free flowing waves. Ramp up the texture of straight/wavy hair with a casual bend here and there (accomplished by wrapping random sections of hair loosely around the outside of a curling iron).

Bob Hairstyle

The resurgence of the bob continues in 2008. What's the appeal? Ease and versatility. This seemingly basic style can take on so many personalities! The simplicity and classic elegance of Katie Holmes' bob gives her an air of maturity. In contrast, Rihanna's whispy, asymmetric version is fresh and funky, proving that a bob hairstyle can be fun and fabulous!

Bobs are un-fussy, easy to style and bring out a woman's classic beauty... lengthening the neck and framing the face to highlight the eyes.

But be careful. Bobs can also have a plain, little-girlish feel. Make sure your stylist is versed in layering and texture cutting. Bobs appear simple, and they're easy to style, but cutting a striking, fashionable bob hairstyle that "falls into place" requires precision craftsmanship.

For the Guys

Mens hair is more creative now than ever. Faux-hawks, emo styles, mod, surfer-casual, etc... Perhaps the options are a bit much for some men though. Several major celebs have recently chopped (Matthew McConaughey) or even shaved (Matthew Fox) their hair, many others are returning to the classic mens crop.

Movement is key for guys styling, whether it's lively spikes or smooth, sweeping mod-inspired motion. Products like wax and putty help to achieve these styles without the crunch factor (and possible flaking) that gel can cause.

On the Formal Side

There's a move toward demure low chignons, secured at the nape with height in the crown/back. Bangs can be swept across the forehead or pulled back from the face in a sultry wave.

Side-styling is growing in popularity too... hair swept off to one side, ending in a collection of curls or waves or a loose, messy bun secured below the ear.

The silhouette of updos (and hairstyles in general) is wider, with more volume in the back and at the sides, while maintaining just a bit of height in the crown.

Hair Color

Deeper shades are hot for spring... golden blondes, mocha browns, and wine-inspired reds (both warm and cool tones).

Dimensional color, with multiple tones applied in varying widths, is hot again this year. The contrast between tones is played down compared to recent versions though.

Create more drama by adding contrasting highlights or lowlights underneath or through random interior sections. This application results in a "convertible" color which can be played up or toned down depending on how you style your hair on any given day.

Home Decor Trends For the Classic Stylist in You

Looking for the latest trends in home decor? Each year brings new designs, but there are some classic decor trends that never seem to fade away.

One new trend that promises not to go away any time soon is environmentally friendly, or green, home decor. Designs that use recycled or repurposed products are hot, hot, hot. The good news is green decor is not the ugly duckling it once was. If you want to be friendly to the environment, you don't have to sacrifice style. Your decor can be both.

Another big trend that seems to have staying power is multi-purpose furniture. In other words, beautiful home decor is fine and good, but is it functional? Does it save space? Does it make your life easier? Again, with today's decor schemes you can have both style and utility.

On the lighting front, chandeliers are back en vogue on the home decor scene. Chandeliers can set the mood in any room. Back on the green trend, solar-powered landscape lighting is a decor trend that's made its way outdoors while kitchen lighting is getting more attention since it is a gathering place for friends and family indoors.

Texture is hitting big in home decor. Textured leathers, textures made from resins that are intertwined with bronzed and antique silver metallics promise to add a glimpse of glamour to your decor, if that's what tickles your fancy. Wall treatments, meanwhile, are one of the latest trends on the market. Wall murals can dramatically change the appearance of a room and prove to be cost-effective home decor.

Leather doesn't ever seem to go out of style, but there are more feminine presentations these days. Over-sized furniture and accessories are also finding their place in the decor plans of many consumers, as well as Zen-like accessories.

How about color? Color is everything in home decor. Maybe softer pastels suit you, or maybe you are drawn toward bright, bold colors. Trend-wise, blues, greens, aquas, pinks and purples are evolving on the color palette in the home. Pantone's Home Furnishings Forecast suggests colors like violets with taupes, hues like "Deep Taupe" and "Adobe Rose" and deep browns and grays add a nice feeling to the decor of your home.

Can't make up your mind on a home decor style? No matter. The eclectic look is a trend that doesn't seem to get old. You can blend traditional couches with funky accessories. You can mix futuristic furniture with antiques. You can get away with just about any home decor scheme these days, so long as it's done with class.
